Foundations
Established in 2024, New York-based ZUECH (zoo-ek) crafts contemporary leather pieces that balance restraint with imagination, shaping sculptural silhouettes that bloom in unexpected ways.
Its creations are realized in considered quantities, speaking to a discipline defined by patience and purpose. Small leather goods begin with reclaimed premium leathers sourced from designer ateliers in Milan, Tokyo, and New York. Each cut is chosen for its rarity and character, then crafted start-to-finish in their New York studio.
Blending centuries-old artisanal craft with unusual forms and textures, traditional methods are reinterpreted for a world in constant motion. What emerges is not fashion in its passing sense, but objects of enduring fascination. ZUECH is the art of engineered anomaly; an eclectic, and at times, eccentric study in material, technique, and reverence.
About the Designer
Sarah Zuech began her career at the intersection of embroidery design and studio operations, leading to in-house positions at Tiffany & Co. and Ralph Lauren. Originally trained in Chinese Language and Literature, she later pursued design studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and completed a couture program at L’Institut Français de la Mode in Paris.
Her background spans oil painting, French, Chinese, calligraphy, and art history — disciplines that continue to shape her approach to narrative, form, and material. Drawing on the poetry of nature and romantic lore, her practice weaves utility with the lightness of couture fantasy.
She currently resides in New York City with her partner and Samoyed.
